“This is the story of a man, of a house, and of the appearance of one and the other that made them unmistakable. It is also the story of a town in Maresme, Caldetes, which with unique climatic and geographical characteristics became an iconic location on the Mediterranean coast in the 19th century, and a meeting point for a good part of the Barcelona industrial bourgeoisie. who found, in this place, the idyllic atmosphere of a beautiful fishing town in which to put down roots.

It was 1908 when a Catalan engineer, Isidro Abelló, decided to build a family house in the town of Caldetes. He fell in love with the hot springs, the quality of the climate, the welcoming treatment of its people and the opportunity to enjoy the beach, the aroma of the sea and the life of a fishing village. The appearance of Isidre Abelló, tall, thin and with a long, lush beard, surprised the neighborhood who began to talk about him as “the man with the Beards.” The house, spacious and groundbreaking in style (as was Catalan Modernism at the time), also represented an innovative fact that surprised and pleased the town's inhabitants.

During the damned Civil War, some of the most stately houses in the town, almost all located on the seafront, assumed political roles, becoming temporary consulates and embassies. This was the case of countries such as France, the United Kingdom, Costa Rica, Argentina, Mexico, Denmark and Switzerland, among many others, which found a space for representation in some of the houses of the bourgeoisie of Barcelona.

In the Abelló house, at the beginning of the promenade and where "The Man with the Beards" and his family continued to live, life continued with all the difficulties of an uncertain context, and Mr. Abelló traveled every day to go to the work without ceasing, at any time, to assume the responsibilities required of an entrepreneur of his high level.

The "lord of the beard" managed a consolidated industrial and strategic company and throughout the Civil War he worked tirelessly to maintain jobs, while ensuring the integrity of all of them, in a context that was neither friendly nor friendly.

Over the years and due to its beauty and personality, the Abelló house became an inseparable part of the town's promenade. Its location on the seafront and with a huge living room with elegant wooden moldings and stained glass windows, which are a window open to the Mediterranean, delight those who come to enjoy it today. Inside, a quiet and large garden invites you to spend hours of relaxation, games and gatherings in the fresh air.

With an unmistakable façade of this corner of the Maresme, the Abelló house is one of the most iconic on the Caldes seafront, where 6 fully equipped apartments are offered that preserve the tranquility, comfort and pleasure of its guests.

Curiously, the house is known by a name that, over the years, the townspeople themselves popularized, maintaining the memory and spirit of its creator.
